CONFLUENCE

In 2008,MIC introduced the concept of management games in CBS.
Management games are no child’s play. For students of management and corporate executives, they help hone skills in dealing with vexing office problems across a range of issues.

Confluence 2008 and 2009 were very successful with over 500 participants in total.

For corporate houses such as Infosys, TCS, Maruti etc. the concept of management games is a regular. It is not only taken as a fun team building activity but is also a tool to test the employee’s reactions to real life problems in various areas such as finance, Marketing and HRM, in a simulated business environment.
Participants play to win, and in seeking to win, they imbibe new forms of competitive behavior that are ideal for today's highly chaotic business conditions. The competition urges participants to learn willingly, and the in-built interactivity enhances the pace of learning. These games couple management learning with fun and have become an integral part of the student culture in renowned B- Schools as well. They are a great way to relax and apply classroom learning to almost life-like business conditions.

Learning objectives of organizing Management Games

  • Team spirit
  • A test of common sense and presence of mind.
  • How to act quickly at the time of contingencies.
  • Test the mental aptitude of students
  •  A test for students patience in bizarre situations given to them
  • Survival techniques amidst heavy competition
  • Practical application of classroom theories

Different  as  it  is  from  the  regular  college  events, Confluence is  a  mega scale event with participation from various commerce colleges. The event serves as a means to let students learn while they have fun. This is the reason why CONFLUENCE encapsulates the element of fun, without ignoring the need for erudition.

So Far, Confluence has had the following Management Games:

  • The Great Business Leap- with 3 different rounds testing business knowledge, analytical skills, and team work
  • Truth or Lie
  • Prisoner's Dilemma- The Famous Business game about choices and risks

We aim to create a confluence of young talent and break the monotony of regular events. This brand new initiative  undoubtedly fulfills our desire to make our college’s banner fly high and make Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies (SSCBS) a name to reckon with.
